Beach Huts for the Wells Community Banner

Beach Huts for the Wells Community Banner

Mark your calendars for the quilting bee that will be held at the Sackhouse Sunday May 28th and Monday May 29th from 10 to 4 over two days of the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Come and stitch in time as the Wells Beach Hut Quilt will be on a frame.  Imagine 8 women at a time sewing together!  You can sew just one stitch or a whole wave or two inbetween the beach huts!  Don’t miss out on the fun!  if you want to sew a beach hut -there is still time, just stop by the Sackhouse M,W, F and pick up a kit to create something with your own individual flare.  Check out a few of the Beach Huts that have been made so far! Stunning! Come join in the fun!

The heritage of women in Wells sewing continues!  Years ago the women in Wells used to sew their husband’s Naval uniforms. In 1748, the uniform consisted of grey jackets, red breeches or trousers, striped waistcoats and blue-and-white checkered shirts was the de facto uniform for this era.

The Wells Maltings Trust is delighted by the outpouring of community response to do this project by the people of the North Norfolk coast!.  Thank you all for your creative talent!
