About The Granary
The Granary Theatre’s heritage dated back to Georgian times when the then Fisher Theatre was situated in Theatre Road, just a short distance from the Maltings site.
The Granary Theatre was originally part of “The Wells Centre” an arts centre situated in the Maltings and Sackhouse buildings, from 1975 – 1990. From 1994 to 2016 the theatre hosted regular plays and concerts and was looked after by the Friends of the Granary.
The theatre is now closed for redevelopment as part of the Maltings Project. The new facility will include a larger auditorium space with retractable seats, improved backstage and front of house facilities. We look forward to welcoming you in the new theatre, in the meantime Friends of the Granary continue to host events and soirees in the Sackhouse during the development.
