PRESENTED BY SCREEN NEXT THE SEA
On a remote Scottish island, siblings Isla, [Gayle Rankin] and Sandy [Grant O’ Rourke] have lived alone for thirty years since their parents disappeared, surviving by hunting seabirds, speaking to mythical creatures and defending their home from “dreaded incomers “. Their world is upended when Daniel, [Domhnall Gleeson], an awkward land recovery coordinator, arrives to relocate them to the mainland on orders from his intimidating boss Roz. [Micelle Gomez]. The Incomer is a film full of the beautiful Scottish scenery and unique weirdly wonderful humour from director Louis Paxton with his first feature film. If you enjoyed The Ballad of Wallis Island and The Banshees of Inisherin you will not be disappointed with The Incomers.
Screen Daily: Tom Dawson: “ A charming, defiantly regional human drama with a trio of strong performances.”
Daily Beast: Nick Schager: “ Winningly weird, a wittiness that’s almost as odd as its heart is big.”
Rotten Tomatoes: 93% “ The Incomer’s inviting performances and quirky edge make it a refreshingly good – natured character study of human connection.
Dir: Louis Paxton. Cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin, Grant O’ Rourke, Emun Elliott, Michelle Gomez, John Hannah.
Running time: 01 hours 42 minutes
