FÜR DAS KIND – For the Child

Exhibition Information

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January, Wells Maltings is hosting a major photographic exhibition by artists Rosie Potter and Patricia Ayre, exhibiting belongings of the children displaced during the Kindertransport evacuation.

In 1938 and 1939, around 10,000 children, mainly Jewish, were evacuated from Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia to Britain.

Previously exhibited in London, Prague, Vienna and the Mauthausen concentration camp, Potter and Ayre asked survivors to share the personal belongings that accompanied them as children on the Kindertransport.

Presented by Wells Maltings and Sea Fever, Norfolk’s festival of poetry and prose.
The FÜR DAS KIND exhibition has been made possible through the generosity of the Austrian Cultural Forum, London.
