SEAW – Awash 2022

Exhibition Information

A showcase of 150 paintings, all demonstrating the beauty, variety and unique qualities of watercolour. Visitors will have a chance to view and purchase original framed, unframed paintings and cards that offer a variety of perspectives of the local area and beyond and take part in a variety of workshops, demonstrations and ‘meet the artist’ opportunities.

The Society of East Anglian Watercolourists (SEAW) seeks the best in contemporary watercolour and the use of fluidity and transparency in the creation of original paintings.  ‘The handling of the interaction between all its main and equally important elements – water, air, pigment and paper – produce innumerable effects many of which are full of surprise and mastery. It is wonderful to have a society dedicated to watercolour that is so proactive and diverse’. Lillias August RI, SEAW Patron.

The SEAW, originally called the ‘Royal Watercolour Society Friends in East Anglia’, was established by Richard Sorrell, President of the Royal Watercolour Society between 2006-9. The SEAW now has over 100 members and Friends, all of whom support our aims to improve watercolour expertise, bring people together to share art opportunities, tips and challenges and show our paintings across the region.

We are delighted to be exhibiting again in The Handa Gallery. We love being in Wells and are grateful for all of the support we have received in the past from the Maltings staff, local residents, businesses and visitors.
