Custodial Sentence is an innovative new ensemble comprising musicians who have performed all over the world in various guises.

Custodial Sentence - custodians of the music who allow the audience to escape the confines of daily life.

The ensemble's aim is to bring classical music into the awareness of those who may have, in the past, been wary of going into the concert hall. The musicians promise an all new experience of what a concert can be.

Custodial Sentence believe the concert hall shouldn't feel like being detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure but rather a much needed source of escapism from the norms and patterns of daily life. The members of the ensemble honed their skills to perfection during their many years incarcerated in some of the finest music institutions including the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music. Their time spent practising in solitary confinement was finally rewarded when they were released for good behaviour. Their mission is now to facilitate the audience's escape through music, having already gained their own freedom.

The musicians have performed in prestigious concert halls throughout the world including Carnegie Hall, New York, The Royal Albert Hall, London and the Musikverein, Vienna. Individually, they have appeared with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and John Wilson Orchestra and can regularly be heard on Radio 3 and Classic FM.
