Margaret Willes - Daily Life in a time of Pandemic - 17th-Century Style
In 17th C England, professional medical care was rare and expensive, so it was often the housewife who had to provide physic for her family. Margaret Willes will talk about some of the herbs and remedies that were employed in the fight against the pandemic of bubonic plague, with some remarkable parallels with our own times. Margaret spent her career in publishing, latterly as Publisher for the National Trust. Since retirement she has written A Shakespearean Botanical, and, published in June, The Domestic Herbal: Plants for the Home in the 17th Century.
