Members, Friends and Patrons

Join and share our passion for high quality arts, entertainment, heritage and community activities – and invest in their future.

Wells Maltings is a charitable organisation with a role to develop arts, heritage and community engagement. We need support for this. We receive no public funding, and rely on charitable financial contribution from individuals to deliver our core work.

We thrive on our engagement with our supporters. Therefore we have created three exciting ways to celebrate being part of what we do.

Wells Maltings Members

The first step in showing your support. For just £30 a year for an individual, or £45 for two of you living at the same address, you can enjoy:

  • 10% off all tickets for Wells Maltings shows
  • Invitations to special events and previews of gallery exhibitions
  • Periodic exclusive offers on events and activities, including food and drink in our café
  • The knowledge that your contribution makes a difference and supports our work

Wells Maltings Patrons

Your chance to be at the heart of our work, making a huge difference and supporting access to activities and events to those who most need it.

Your contributions directly support our high quality programmes, help us build our audiences, and provide leverage for support from other funders. We cannot underestimate the power of demonstrating that individuals like you are keen to invest in us.

This highest level of support also offers the highest level of benefit; our way of saying thank you.

To become a Patron for a year, we ask for a minimum individual donation of £500 (£700 for two of you at the same address). This enables us to:

  • Deliver theatre, film and live events that would otherwise not be possible due to financial risk. 40% of your donation goes directly to subsidise and fund artistic and community events that we otherwise could not afford to bring to Wells
  • Invest in the future of Wells Maltings as a powerhouse for arts, heritage and community activity. 30% of each Patron donation will be used to support the delivery of events and wider programming by contributing to our overheads.
  • Fund the Patrons’ Pool – an initiative to reach audiences who would otherwise not be able to access our events and activities. Contributions from Patrons will enable us to offer up to 10 tickets for each event that we present to local young people or those under economic stress in our community either at low cost, or completely free

In return for your support you will receive all the benefits of being a Maltings Friend, plus

  • Exclusive access to Patrons’ dinners and receptions throughout the year
  • Your name in lights – if you agree, we’ll feature your name on a roll of honour on our information screens front of house, on our website, and within formal publications
  • Knowledge that you are making a huge difference to how we sustain our operations, deliver our work, and give access to our work to as many people in our community as possible

To be a Patron for a year requires a gift of at least £500 (that’s less than £10 a week), and we’d love to discuss donations of more than this if you feel able.

Getting your own back

HMRC’s Gift Aid Scheme allows charities like Wells Maltings to reclaim the tax you would have already paid on your donations and gifts to them.

If you join us as either a Friend or a Patron, we can take full advantage of the Gift Aid scheme, making your contribution work even harder. And if you pay higher rate tax, you can claim relief on what you donate to us. Sounds like a win-win to us – and it doesn’t cost you a penny! We’ll give you details when you sign up.

Registered charity in England and Wales no 1139767

Where do I sign?

It’s simple to show your support. Signing up to being an Member or a Friend is possible either online via the Wells Maltings website wellsmaltings.org.uk; or via the box office, 01328 710885. You give your details and payment, and we’ll do the rest.

If you wish to become a Patron, contact us via website wellsmaltings.org.uk, or email [email protected]. We’ll respond quickly and answer any queries before taking things forward.

The Small Print

As always with these things, there are a number of regulatory and legal things that we need to apply. Nothing too daunting, but necessary when it comes to such things as charitable funding, management of personal data and Gift Aid.
