About the show…
“The Show Must Go On” weaves together a colourful and powerful narrative of Musical Theatre from the Golden Age (Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe and Cole Porter etc.)., through the rise of the rock and dance shows (Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago and Cabaret, Tommy etc), right up to the present day where the Epic Musical (Saigon, Phantom etc), Disney and the Juke Box musical hold sway on both Broadway and the West End.
Told through acting, song and dance this shows brings you some of the most loved songs of musical theatre, alongside some of the more obscure, blending together in an unforgettable night of celebration of one of the world’s most love theatrical forms.
Created by two friends and professional Actors, Chris and Sarah formed PIP in the Summer of 2018. Having originally met on stage playing opposite each other as Laurie and Curly in Oklahoma at the Theatre Royal Norwich for the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society, before both turning professional over ten years ago.
“The Show Must Go On” was first performed in Madeira and after successful reviews the pair decided to launch the project in Norwich with the view of eventually touring it around the country with a wider variety of acts involved to tell the story of this theatrical form.
At the heart of the project is an ambition to combine the skills of professional performers with talented local actors and groups, giving local performers the experience of working with professionals within the industry and hopefully enhancing their skills and understanding of the profession as a whole.
