Show Information
Following a sell out screening in March, another chance to see these two special films.
A very special double bill of locally made films, each celebrating local subjects and themes. This is a fundraising event, with proceeds to the local charities Rescue Wooden Boats and The Norfolk Churches’ Trust. Lucy Lavers – Return to Dunkirk (63′) documents Lucy Lavers, following her restoration by Rescue Wooden Boats, as she joins other Dunkirk Little Ships to commemorate, 75 years on, her very first operation back in 1940 when she took part in the ‘miracle of Dunkirk’ rescuing the surrounded British Army. This film includes interviews with Dunkirk veterans and footage of the 2015 crossing to Dunkirk. Still Life (37′) tells the story of the troubled life of the Victorian benefactor whose generosity helped restore many North Norfolk Churches and who gave us the cabinet of curiosities that is the Glandford Shell Museum: Sir Alfred Jodrell . Using contemporary newspaper accounts and personal letters as well as the ledger of Jodrell’s Bayfield Estate, the film evokes his life around the turn of the 20th century through the changing landscapes of his beloved North Norfolk. Each film will be followed by a short Q&A session with the filmmaker Jeremy Brettingham
