Current Patrons

We are also extremely grateful to individual donors, who give financial support to Wells Maltings to provide a variety of artistic and cultural programmes and services to everyone living in and visiting the Wells next the Sea and north Norfolk area. Our Patrons, each giving a minimum of £500 each year, are central to our inner giving circle, and are credited below by name. Thank you all. Wells Maltings as we know it now was created following a substantial renewal and refurbishment project in 2016-8, securing nearly £5m of funding through grants and public donations, including Heritage Lottery Fund support of £1.92m.

We’d also like gratefully to acknowledge other charitable trusts and foundations who have funded the project, such as The International Fund for Arts and Culture, Business Rates Pool Fund, Garfield Weston Foundation, Clore Duffield Foundation, Foyle Foundation, FLAG, as well as North Norfolk District Council and Coastal Communities Fund amongst others. We have also received generous private donation and public support through the project period.

The new Wells Maltings opened in July 2018, with a fabulous new state of the art building and facilities, a strong vision, but with minimal reserves and a business model balancing commercial income with generous contributions from charitable trusts and private donors. The funding environment is increasingly hard, and Wells Maltings exists without regular public sector support. Commercial profits are challenged by rising costs, and there is still a need, year on year, to raise funds to secure our work as a force for good in arts, culture and heritage.

You can help – either through our Friends & Patrons scheme, or through donations. Help us make a positive difference to the cultural and social life of north Norfolk, and keep our work alive. If you feel that you could make a difference, do get in touch with our Director, Simon Daykin. And thank you.
