The Lounge Team

Katy

My name is Katy and I am the Wells Maltings Youth and Community Project Leader. I am passionate about young people having a safe space to hang out with their friends and to be able to make new ones along the way. After listening and receiving feedback from the community of Wells, I began to create a safe and fun place for young people to go. When taking this position over a year ago, this became my main priority and without the help of my volunteers, this would never have been successful. Together, we hope to continue to grow and keep The Lounge available to many young people, from now and in years to come.

Not only am I part of Wells Maltings but I also work for the Wells harbour, providing kayak & paddle board sessions for free to local families during the summer. I love being active, I am a qualified PT and I host regular classes at Wells Community Hospital. I love walking, especially in the Pinewoods & along Wells beach. I have 2 children who both attended APHS. My son is currently attending University studying Graphic Design and a daughter who is currently attending Sixth Form studying her A-Levels and working her way to becoming a Biomedical Scientist. The pair of them always make think about how young minds work, how they relate to current events and what’s important to them and why. I love hearing their opinions and values, which I hope young people can do when they come to the Lounge. I hope anyone attending The Lounge can feel valued, respected, listened to and given space to enjoy themselves and have fun.

Francesca

After finishing my final year at APHS this summer, I am looking forward to starting my A levels at Sheringham 6th form. I will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology as I love science and have ambitions of becoming a Biomedical Scientist. I love drama, singing, listening to music and socialising with my friends. I enjoy helping others to connect and feel valued in a group. Not only that but I get to use the equipment & eat the snacks!

Chris

Chris retired to Wells in 2019, although had family living in the town, and visited Wells with his sons, now 23 and 26, for many years. He helped to run youth groups in Leeds between 1980 and 2017, both Church and sport oriented groups with active memberships. Chris is keen to support The Lounge activities for the benefit of the youth of Wells and the surrounding area.

Lisa

I’ve lived in Wells for more than 20 years and am passionate about the community and helping it to thrive. I remember how important a Youth Club was to me growing up in South Norfolk, which is why I volunteer with The Lounge. When not volunteering here, at the Community Supermarket or with Homes for Wells, I enjoy long beach walks and swimming in the sea. I’ve spent all my working career in the media and am also an experienced career coach and mentor.

Pascale

Hi, my name is Pascale and I recently moved to Wells, after many years living in the Slough/Windsor area. I spent many holidays locally and have relatives in Suffolk and Norfolk, so it is great to live here now. I am an active person who loves walking, reading, going to the movies and exploring new places. I am finding Wells even more beautiful and socially active than I expected and I look forward to getting more involved in the community. The Lounge is a fun and friendly place and I am really enjoying spending time with everyone there.

Rachel

My name is Rachel and we’ve lived in Norfolk for 30 years, the last 12 in Wells and I simply adore it here. I love walking and get to the beach or woods most days. There’s plenty of social activities here and The Maltings is great at providing for all. I remember my youth club days as full of fun, so I am happy to help with this important space for the local children. My love of art and crafts comes in useful but I’ll play table tennis & games too and give support to the fantastic job that Katy is doing.
