Welcome to the Sackhouse
The Sackhouse is situated next to the Maltings. It was where the sacks from the port and maltings process were woven and repaired two hundred years ago. As Phase 1 of the Maltings Project, the building has been converted into small office units, meeting facilities and further open plan community space available to hire.
The Sackhouse is a space dedicated to fostering the support and growth of local SMEs and start-up businesses and provide space for the community in Wells. The Sackhouse provides much needed affordable office and meeting facilities for the town, as well as a further area where the community can host events, talks, parties, exhibitions, training events and conferences.
The Sackhouse is situated in Jicklings Yard, next to the Main Maltings building. It is the first building to be regenerated as Phase 1 of the Wells Maltings Project providing dedicated community space plus a range of work/business units, meeting rooms and conference facilities. The space provides a flexible resource in the centre of the town for local businesses, especially start up enterprises and smaller local enterprises.
The renovation of the Sackhouse and its conversion into a business enterprise centre with small work units has been made possible by the generous help from the following funders:
RDPE fund, Community SOS Lottery Fund, Garfield Weston Foundation, Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, Community Construction Fund, North Norfolk Big Society Fund.
