Art Exhibitions
The Handa Gallery at Wells Maltings is an exciting exhibition space for Wells-Next-The-Sea. Entry is usually free and open to everyone. Find out more about our upcoming exhibitions here.
We gratefully acknowledge the generous support of Dr Haruhisa Handa and the International Foundation for Arts and Culture in bringing you our Handa Gallery programmes.
NR23 Art Group
The Wells next the Sea community is rich with artists and makers. Last year, Wells Maltings led an initiative that opened our Handa Gallery to any artists living and working within the NR23 postcode area, and we were overwhelmed by the response. The resultant exhibition in June and July this year featured over 40 local artists and was universally declared a great success. Above all, it signalled how we as a creative organisation can work to give support to artists at all levels and stages of their careers, and the richness and diversity artists can offer to a place like Wells Maltings.
The Lounge
Young people can come together and socialise in a relaxed, friendly and safe environment, with plenty on offer: pool, table hockey, table tennis, Nintendo Switch gaming and more. Refreshments also available (small charge made).
Short and Sweet
During the second lockdown in 2021, Wells Maltings reached out to audiences online. One of the real successes from that period was our monthly short story sessions, SHORT AND SWEET. Hosted by Maltings director Simon Daykin, this free one hour session brought writers and listeners together virtually to enjoy the craft of the short story.
